The First London Confession of Faith of 1644

Confessions draw both lines and circles.They draw lines that the church must not cross to distinguish orthodoxy from heresy and to preserve the faith once delivered to the saints. But they also draw circles, areas of doctrinal freedom where adherents may hold a number of variant positions and still be within the bounds of orthodoxy.
